Team Krypton ???

The "Krypton" concept materialised, as a bit of a joke in 2007 as Phil and Dave discussed, over numerous pints of Yates' finest ale (see next blogs) the name for potential future extreme challenges. It evolved into the name for an ultrarunning team - Team Krypton, as Phil, Oz and Mick stood at the start of the Calderdale Hike wondering what to call ourselves if we entered as a team. Colin made up our 4th team member... and, to our delight, we won the team prize. The Kryptonettes, originally comprising Chrispy, Mandy, Clare and Jerry, were formed in 2008 and have had continued success in ultra events. The "team" has changed and multiplied with logarithmic momentum and, although mainly comprised of fellrunners from Todmorden Harriers and Achilli Ratti, has members from lots of running clubs and a wide geographic spread - some of the many friends we have made on the ultrarunning scene. Our original colours of luminous Krypton green for the men, and Krypton pink for the ladies, has been replaced by light blue thanks to the generosity of our sponsors Lakes Runner and Odlo.
Although very competitive, amongst ourselves as well as against rival teams, we strive not to take ourselves too seriously. The Team has but one rule - "There are no rules". It's all about being out in the hills and enjoying ourselves - as long as we're doing that then we're winning!
